London Rental Standard – Shelter campaign

Experiencing soaring rents? Flats let out in dreadful conditions? Letting agents charging hidden fees?  Living in fear of eviction? Now is their chance to tell the London Mayor what you think of renting in London.

The GLA is consulting on proposals to create a London Rental Standard. This voluntary accreditation scheme for landlords and letting agents represents an opportunity to improve conditions for London renters.

Today Shelter has launched a campaign encouraging London’s renters to respond to the consultation to ensure better rental conditions in London.

Shelter welcomes the GLA’s proposal for a London Rental Standard, with more than one in four Londoners now living in private rented accommodation and more and more families entering the sector each year the London Rental Standard is a timely intervention.
