The ‘Evening Standard’ reports;
“Gunshots rang out in broad daylight just yards from the spot where a teenager was knifed to death.
Police were called to the Tachbrook Estate in Aylesford Street, Pimlico, just after 2pm yesterday to reports of a shooting.
Scotland Yard said there were no reports of anyone with injuries.
A 16-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man have been arrested.
One witness who did not want to be named described seeing a man on a pushbike cycle up to a parked car and fire five shots into it.
The incident happened next to Tachbrook Nursery School.
Resident Nathalie Bond wrote on Twitter: “Shooting in Tatchbrook. What is Pimlico turning into these days? Used to be so lovely round here.”
Luke Endean, who also lives locally, wrote: “What the f*** is going on in Pimlico these days? Someone’s been shooting a gun outside my house.”
The estate is just off Lupus Street, where 16-year-old Hani Abou El Kheir was murdered by a gang of youths last month.
A police spokesman said: “We were called at approximately 2.20pm to reports of shots fired in the Tachbrook Estate. There are currently no reports of anyone having been injured and officers from Trident Gang Command are on the scene.”
Westminster City Councillor Audrey Lewis, acting Cabinet member for Community Protection, said: “Yesterday’s incident is a reminder of why the anti-gang work we carry out is more critical than ever.
“Local people were truly shocked by last month’s killing of Hani Abou El Kheir and this latest event is a disturbing echo of that. We are working with police colleagues to provide assurance that this area is safe, and we will not allow gangs to blight Pimlico.
“The Council will continue to play its part working with residents and offering young people more productive options than being tempted by criminality, for example through the Your Choice campaign.””
