Campaign to keep open Westminster Fire Station continues

Labour Councillors have tabled the following motion to be debated at the next Council meeting on 1st May in the latest phase in the campaign to keep open Westminster Fire Station;

“This Council is concerned at the proposals in the draft Fifth London Safety Plan (LSP5) to close the Westminster and neighbouring Knightsbridge station fire stations, while also down-grading the Chelsea fire station from two to one fire engines. This part of central London is amongst the busiest in the capital with more visitors, tourist attractions, and governmental and diplomatic premises than anywhere else in the country. This Council therefore resolves to cooperate with the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority and to seek any changes to LSP5 that will be necessary to ensure the continued safety of Westminster and this broader part of central London.”
