Just 19 Westminster families move to smaller homes as the Nasty Party gets nastier

Out of the 550 Westminster families receiving Housing Benefit who have 1 room or more than the Conservatives say they need, just 19 (3.4%) families have moved to smaller accommodation. The rest will pay an £18 a week bedroom tax if they have 1 room too many and £34 a week if they have 2 rooms too many.

So, a policy that was supposed to release hundreds of underoccupied homes for people in overcrowded conditions produces just 19 extra bedrooms and takes away over £700 a year from over 530 of the poorest families living in Westminster.
