Petition calling on Westminster Council to block access to the websites of pay day lenders

We have started an on-line petition calling on the Council to follow the example of other Councils and to block access to the websites of pay day lenders through Council computers in libraries, community centres and Council offices.

Pay day lenders who offer short-term loans of up to £1,000 at an annual interest rate of 5,853%, are taking unfair advantage of many local residents who find themselves in difficult financial circumstances. The Council should be encouraging credit unions and local affordable lending as genuine alternatives to pay day lenders.
