Westminster Council increases the cost of getting married by up to 50%

Westminster Council is increasing the cost of getting married by up to 50%, as the cost of living crisis hits beyond Council rents (up by more than twice the rate of inflation) and the cost of a residents’ parking permit (up 16.5%).

New charges for wedding ceremonies in the Marylebone Room at Mayfair Library are up 50%, from £150 to £225 on Mondays to Thursdays. While those getting married on Friday or Saturday or after 5.30pm on weekdays will pay 40% more (from £210 to £295). Couples getting married on a Sunday will pay 17% more – from £300 to £350.

Councillor Paul Dimoldenberg, Leader of the Labour Group; said;

“No one can escape Westminster Conservatives’ unstoppable urge to increase prices at every opportunity. This latest price increase undermines the Council Tax freeze and puts added pressure on young people as they struggle with the cost of living crisis”
